San Louis Obispo

San Louis Obispo (SLO) is a college town located in between San Francisco and LA with a population of around 45,000. The School has 18000 students and the size of the town shrinks to about half in the summertime. The weather is very nice in the summer and usually ranges between 70 and 80 during the day, and around 60 at night. The town is set in a valley between bug rolling hills that go for miles. One of the best features of this town is that it is about a 10-minute drive from dozens of beaches. Morro Bay, Pismo, Avalon, and Los Osos are all just a few miles away and each beach offers something different. Morro Bay is a big surf spot, Pismo is also great for learning to surf and very family friendly, Avalon is a great beach for the family and is in a beautiful area, and Los Osos offers multiple small beaches that are more off the map and mostly used by locals.

For a small town there is a lot to do. Every Thursday there is a farmers market on the main drag and thousands of people attend. They come to see live music, eat dinner, and see what the local farmers have to offer. During the day, Higurea Street offers lots of shopping and dining choices. Firestone BBQ is right on Higurea and is one of the best spots to eat in town. Beyond shopping and eating there is also great road and mtn. biking in every direction, as well as hiking.  About five minutes out of town is Bishops peak. It is about a 45-minute trek to the top of the hill but the views from the top are amazing and it is a must if you are in SLO. Overall SLO is a small college town with great weather and something to do for everyone.
